MO’OLELO
GENERATIONAL MEMORIES
Skillful hands worked tirelessly
Weaving together strands of memories
Like fragile niu fibers
Strand by strand
She spun moʻolelo
Of land struggles
Of empowerment
Of resiliency
Of healing
Her hands labored
Gathering
Crafting
Interlacing intricate patterns
To form a beautiful fabric of rich prose
And when her hands
Became frail and worn
And her mind drifted to another world
She set aside her tools
And closed her weary eyes
To join the others
And those stories shaped by her hands
Are now embedded
In generational memories
